Duluth City Attorney Reportedly Suspended

Updated: February 19, 2020 10:26 PM

Duluth City Attorney Gunnar Johnson has reportedly been placed on administrative suspension.

Duluth Public Information Officer Kate Van Daele said she could only provide a brief statement: "Because this is a personnel matter, the City of Duluth will not provide comment at this time."

An email to Johnson's city account was returned with an automatic reply, saying simply, "I am currently out of the office."

Johnson told the Duluth News Tribune he was "totally shocked and blindsided" when he was told about the suspension. He told the DNT that he intends to cooperate fully with any investigation.
