Downtown Duluth Arts Collective Kicks Off Art Supply Drive

Updated: August 07, 2019 06:16 PM

For the second year, the Downtown Duluth Arts Collective (DDAC) is partnering with Art for Ed's Sake (A4ES) to raise money for art supplies that will benefit students in art classes at Duluth Public Schools.

A4ES is a nonprofit created by public schools visual arts educators to promote art education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Supplies or funds can be donated to Arts Walk locations from August 7 through August 30. Monetary donations may also be made in brightly colored donation boxes bearing the Art Supplies 4 Kids (AS4K) logo.

"For an elementary student it takes $5 to fund them for the whole year. For a middle school student it's $14 a semester, and for a high school student it's $32 a semester. So any amount of money can really help," said Alex Breilein, and art teacher at the Duluth Area Learning Center and Academic Excellence Online.

On August 30 the fundraiser will culminate with the Downtown Duluth Arts Walk. For participating locations click here.

In 2018, five boxes of supplies and over $500 were donated to the program.
