October is domestic violence awareness month, and CASDA, or the center against sexual and domestic abuse, held a fundraising event at Village Lanes.

Teams that joined the bowling teams collected pledges and other donations as well. Local businesses gave them other prizes to hand out to the best bowlers as well. CASDA's Domestic Abuse Program Coordinator, Melissa Hellerud-Storie, says the organization has been working hard this month to spread awareness for their message.

"We've had a lot of education presentations in the community and this is just more of a fun way to bring people from all over together," said Melissa Hellerud-Storie.

Some of the bowling teams even dressed up, like Melissa who was a member of the "Alley Cats".  All the fun and donations go towards their goal to help "strike out" domestic violence. And the funds go towards helping CASDA's clients.
