New Concessions Sweeten AMSOIL Arena Experience

Updated: September 10, 2019 06:25 PM

Seven new foods will be added to the AMSOIL Arena concession menu. The new foods are set to debut October 5th, in time for the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey exhibition match with the University of Alberta that same evening.

The new foods include:

  1. Fish Tacos: Beer-battered cod with red and green cabbage, tomatoes, and avocado poblano sauce. Served with an accoutrement of chips and salsa.
  2. Hand Dipped Corn Dogs: All beef hotdog hand-dipped in corn meal batter, paired with a creamy raspberry Minnestalgia pepper jam.
  3. Wild Rice Burgers: Local wild rice patty produced in Bovey, Minnesota, topped roasted red peppers, spinach, and melted fontina cheese. Gluten free bun available upon request.
  4. White Cheddar Mac and Cheese with Candied Bacon
  5. Buffalo Chicken Pizza: Buffalo chicken, mozzarella and blue cheese crumble blend, celery slices, and drizzled with ranch dressing.
  6. Philly Cheesesteak: New York roast, onions, green peppers, and two types of Swiss cheese served on a hoagie bun.
  7. Ice Cream Floats: Vanilla Cedar Crest ice cream in your option of root beer or orange soda.

The new foods were chosen based off a combination of direct feedback from customers, polls and purchasing trends from previous years.

"We utilize a lot of social media polls as well as guest feedback. So when somebody is going up to the stand and saying 'you know I really wish you had...' we do listen to that. We take it into consideration and kind of save it for next season," said Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) Concessions Manager Dolly Thygeson.

Additionally, AMSOIL guests will see improved dietary accommodations to concession stands. This may include printed menus with gluten free options, or the spreading out of dietary options. Maps will also be printed to help customers locate the concession stand with their favorite foods.

Aside from the new foods, concession stands are adding 16 ounce canned beer. AMSOIL is moving away from tap beer to make service more efficient and provide a wider variety. They're also in the process of converting the South Shore Cove Concessions Stand into a beer stand. The designated alcohol free family friendly section remains in Section 223.

The new foods will be available at UMD men's hockey games, and select items will be available at UMD women's hockey games and at concerts.
