The original Hayward location of Old Southern BBQ, a new restaurant concept from "Famous Dave" Anderson, has closed, but several other locations remain open.

The Hayward restaurant opened in 2015 following a fire that destroyed the original Famous Dave's restaurant.  Old Southern BBQ announced the Hayward closure on Facebook, saying that it was always intended to be a temporary location and that they are still taking suggestions for a permanent location.

"We love the Hayward area, but we've outgrown this location," the restaurant said in the post.

Some of the Hayward restaurant's employees have transferred to other locations while others are looking for new jobs in Hayward, according to the post.

Anderson told WDIO in 2015 that Old Southern BBQ is a tribute to his father.

"My dad's love for Southern foods and BBQ is really what started my passion. So a lot of my recipes today come from the family and how we grew up eating BBQ," he said.

Since the original Hayward restaurant opened, Old Southern BBQ has expanded to Rice Lake, Wis., and several locations in the Twin Cities area.  A fourth Twin Cities-area restaurant is expected to open this winter.
