An Indiana man now faces prison for the death of his girlfriend. Monday afternoon, Judge Michelle Anderson sentenced Daniel Lynn to over 16 years behind bars. "I'm grateful he's off the streets, where he can't harm anyone," said Mary Robinson, the mother of the victim.

At a plea hearing last month, the 41-year-old admitted to strangling Christina Marie Woods at his family's farmhouse in Cook. Authorities found her body buried on the property on July 2nd. She was 28-years-old, and leaves behind four children, ages 3-13. Her eldest daughter attended the sentencing.

"I don't want Christina to be be remembered as a victim of domestic violence, or a murder victim. She is a human being, a mother, a sister, a daughter," Robinson added.

Lynn was arrested several weeks later in Michigan, after someone called in a tip. Investigators interviewed his wife, who said that she witnessed the crime.

The criminal complaint said that there was a history of domestic violence involving Lynn and Woods.

Judge Michelle Anderson told the court that no amount of time feels like enough. She told Lynn she hopes he achieves some level of remorse while he's behind bars. Lynn declined to say anything.

His wife, Brooke, has been charged with crimes as well, in Michigan. Robinson plans on attending that case as well.

She hopes to help others who've been impacted by domestic violence. "There's so much lost, a future with her children. But I know she's with them, watching them. We now associate her with butterflies, and butterflies have been hanging around the kids since she died."
