Wet weather on the weekends lately has made volunteering at Bentleyville less appealing, but the light display continues to need volunteers.

Santa will parachute in to officially open America's largest free walk-through light display on Nov. 23.

The big Christmas tree was put up on Saturday, and paid professionals are stringing the lights. But there are plenty of other jobs for people on the ground and food to get them to stick around.

"We've got donuts and coffee and pop and water in the morning, and we feed them every Saturday and Sunday from our favorite restaurant in the area," Nathan Bentley said.

There are several opportunities for walk-in setup volunteers:

  • 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturdays
  • 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sundays
  • 5-8 p.m. Wednesdays

They will also need volunteers to serve hot chocolate, popcorn and more every night when the light display opens.

Bentleyville runs Nov. 23 to Dec. 28.
