It is the first store Goodwill Industries Vocational Enterprises, which serves northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, has ever closed.

President and CEO Marcy Vogt called it a "consolidation" in a press release. Communications and Training Manager Scott Vezina said none of the 11 employees will be laid off.

"Our top priority is the people we employ and serve and we will make every effort to ensure as easy a transition as possible," Vogt said in the release.

Vezina said that it is a "time of change" for Goodwill and that they are trying to become as efficient as possible.

Saturday, Dec. 22 will be the last day the Cloquet location will be open. Donations will be accepted through that day. And from Dec. 10-22, the entire store will be 50 percent off.

Donations will continue to be accepted at the Hermantown, Superior and two Duluth locations.
