Verbist, 25, was charged after authorities say a 3-month-old girl with a skull fracture, fractured arm and fractured rib was brought to St. Luke's hospital.

The child may have permanent brain damage.

The Midwest Child Resource Center determined that "trauma is the only unifying diagnosis for this child" and that "child abuse is far and away the most likely diagnosis."

Authorities say the mother was cooperative with investigators and hospital staff during the Nov. 6, 2018 incident.

Verbist is being held in the Carlton County Jail on $500,000 bail. There is a pre-trial hearing scheduled for April 19.
