Prosecutors filed six charges against a Two Harbors man accused of being the driver in a hit-and-run crash from last Friday.

Rodney Drake Scandin, Jr., 35, was allegedly the driver who pushed a car into oncoming traffic. This was at the intersection of Midway Road and Stark Road around 5pm. The car was hit broadside by a different truck.

According to police, a family of four was stopped on Midway Road in a Subaru waiting to turn West onto Stark Road shortly after 4:45 Friday afternoon. The sheriff's office says a maroon Ford F-150 then rear ended them, forcing the Subaru into oncoming traffic. The Subaru, along with an oncoming work truck with an 18' enclosed trailer ended up in the ditch on the west side of Midway Road.

The sheriff's office said five people suffered injuries in the crash. One person is being treated in the Twin Cities. Authorities said Scandin left the scene. He later turned himself in.

According to the criminal complaint, Scandin said he had bent down and reached for his cell phone, when he saw brake lights and the car stopped in his driving lane. The complaint said he admitted his truck struck the car, and he admitted he did not stop.

The family of the people injured have set up a GoFundMe:
