A two-level, 1500 square foot Central Hillside garage is destroyed following a Sunday afternoon fire, a City of Duluth spokesperson says.
The Duluth Fire Department responded to the fire located on the 300 block of East 2nd Street and North 4th Avenue East at approximately 5:30 pm.
Minnesota Power was summoned to shut off electricity to the block aiding firefighters in their efforts.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and no injuries have been reported. The City of Duluth spokesperson says the garage is a total loss.
After the fire was put out, Minnesota Power began working on restoring electric service to residents living on the East 300 Block of Second Street.
The Duluth Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the fire, which is currently unknown.
Fire Companies from Downtown, UMD and Lincoln Park responded to the fire. Duluth Police, Duluth Public Works, Minnesota Power and Mayo Medical Ambulance also assisted in the effort.
