The sheriff's office says they responded to the multiple-vehicle crash on County Road 8 around 10:57 a.m. Authorities say a Chevrolet Trailblazer, towing a passenger car on a dolly, "failed to stop at the stop sign" and collided with a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette SUV.

The 58-year-old Federal Dam man in the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene. A 4-year-old girl in the SUV was flown to a Twin Cities hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities say the 62-year-old Squaw Lake man in the Trailblazer was taken to a Deer River hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation. The sheriff's office says an autopsy is underway and the names of those involved will be released after family members are notified.
