The breach included customer data from Caribou Coffee stores in Duluth, Grand Rapids, and Hibbing, as well as Coffee & Bagel Brands locations in Duluth.  The breach also included Bruegger's Bagels, which does not have any locations in the Northland.

The company says it detected unusual activity on its network on Nov. 28 and worked with Mandiant, a cyber security firm, to detect unauthorized access to its point of sale systems.  The breach may have exposing some customer data between Aug. 28 and Dec. 3.

The breach may have included names along with credit card numbers, expiration dates, and card security codes.  The company recommends that customers check their credit card statements and report any unauthorized activity to their credit card company.

The company apologized for the incident and said people with questions can email inquiries@cariboucoffee.com or inquiries@coffeeandbagels.com or call 877-698-3760.  The phone line is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central time weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central time on weekends.
