Hibbing author Pat McGauley was at the Zenith Bookstore in Duluth Sunday afternoon to sign a new book that can be found on local shelves.

McGauley's newest book, "Lester's Gift", is set in Duluth and other towns in the Northland. It's about a cop dealing with the effects of drugs in his community which is an important issue to the author.

"I'm a former teacher, and too many young people that are making bad decisions because these drugs are out there," said McGauley.

His book is contemporary and takes place in 2019. He bases a lot of his protagonist's journey by taking inspiration from local crime stories. He will also be visiting other bookstores and fairs for book signings through November.
