Duluth Man Dies in Fatal Car Crash with Semi

A Duluth man died in a car accident after being struck by a tractor trailer in Bloomer, Wisconsin, Friday.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, at around 11:52 a.m. the 77-year-old man was traveling northbound on Highway 40 approaching the intersection with Highway 64.

The man was required to stop for a stop sign but proceeded into the intersection and was struck by a tractor trailer carrying logs that was traveling eastbound on  Highway 64.

The preliminary investigation shows that the 77-year-old man failed to yield the right of way to the tractor trailer. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The person operating the tractor trailer was not injured.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Bloomer Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Bloomer Fire Department, Bloomer Ambulance, and Chippewa Falls Ambulance responded to the accident.
