Deteriorating weather conditions led to mutiple crashes Wednesday afternoon, and the lanes were closed for about a half-hour starting around 4:00.  The Blatnik is the official route of I-535 and U.S. Highway 53.

WisDOT reported snow-covered conditions on Highway 2 from Superior to Ironwood, as well as Highway 53 from Superior to the Douglas-Washburn County line.

MnDOT reported that major highways in the Duluth area are completely covered with snow, while Iron Range highways and Highway 61 on the North Shore are partially covered.  I-35 is covered from Duluth to Cloquet, but then in good condition south of Cloquet.
