A formerly homeless family in Duluth now has a new home for the holidays, and are indeed having the Best Christmas Ever.

Matthew Lafontaine is a former Marine, and his family of seven had fallen on hard times. They had been living in a camper, and now a hotel.

But Monday night, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, they found out they will be living on Arrowhead Road in a place of their own. And it was a big surprise!

Folks from Duluth and the Range worked together to pull this off. It includes a fully furnished rental home for 18 months, a new vehicle, and so much more. Members of local military groups stood with flags to welcome them home.

"The whole time we were struggling, we're trying to raise our kids to know they should help when they can. Even if it's just a hug," Lafontaine shared. Carlson added, "There's always someone worse off than you."

It's that giving nature that helped inspire everyone to work so hard to give back to them.

"Their hearts are this big," shared Father Brandon Moravitz, from Holy Spirit Catholic Church. "Coming up on Christmas, and Christmas is about giving more than getting. And this is the ultimate gift. The love behind it, really impacts hearts."
