We are now less than a week away from Bentleyville's grand opening and workers and volunteers are doing the most to wrap up finishing touches.
“It's just clean up, making it all look nice, making it look pretty, helping get set up on the gift shop and stuff like that. Moving all the displays around. So, just last minute final touches to make sure it's ready for all the guests when they get here,” Josh Salaba, volunteer said.
As America's largest free walk through lighting display, Bentleyville draws in people from all over the world. And, it is all made possible by the time and effort of countless workers and volunteers who are putting in extra hours as the clock ticks down to opening day.
“We were picking up a lot of zip ties that were all over the ground,” Salaba said. “There were a number of people moving around setting up lights last minute and making sure things are working and placed properly.”
Earlier this year, there was a shortage of volunteers for Bentleyville, but fortunately, they have been able to pull things together.
“I’ve come here a lot. I’ve enjoyed it. I’ve enjoyed it with my friends, I’ve enjoyed it with my family and it felt nice to come here and help with that set up,” Salaba said. "So I know that I’m contributing to something I enjoy.”
Volunteers, like guests, are looking forward to the magic that the light display brings.
“I’ll probably come two or three times,” Salaba said.
Bentleyville will officially open on Saturday November 23rd.
