With under three weeks until the 37th running of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, Bent Paddle has brewed up a beer to prepare.

It's the Beargrease Brown Ale, a malty, easy drinking beer, as Eric Welke describes it.

He said when the brewery gets behind a cause, their customers show up for it too.

"It's been our No. 1 seller for about a week and a half," Welke said. "They love it. Especially something that has roots in northern Minnesota."

Bent Paddle has partnered with the Beargrease for the past three years.

"A lot of people are proud of it. And they want to see it continue to thrive and grow and keep going," Welke said. "And we know that this has been a tough year, so we just want to make sure that we're helping out."

For every crowler or growler sale, $5 goes to the Beargrease.

The race is scheduled to start Jan. 31, but there won't be spectators.
