James Montano allegedly killed his uncle, 57-year-old Andrew Gokee of Wisconsin Rapids. Authorities said he also shot at another victim, grazing his right ear.

A Carlton County grand jury indicted Montano on the highest murder charge, which carries a mandatory life sentence.

In addition to first-degree murder, Montano is also charged with second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

The incident allegedly happened in April 2018 at Montano's father's home on Kari Road in Progress Township. Gokee was found there with a gunshot wound to the head.
