The sun was shining on a perfect fall afternoon to celebrate the last day of Bayfield's Apple Festival. Organizers said they expected attendance for the whole weekend to be around 60,000.
"It's been a great weekend," one of the organizers, Kelley Linehan, said. "We had an absolutely perfect weather day on Friday and Saturday was little bit drizzly, but it was warm and the crowds were out in full force and then today, Sunday, is another perfect weather day."
Many come for the apple inspired food, but on the last day, they all come together for the parade.
Vicki and Richard Huber, of Mellen, WI, travel for it every year.
"It's so big," Richard Huber said. "They got a whole bunch of bands, which are great and that's why we come to see the band and at the end they get together so we enjoy that."
The parade is the grand finale of the Apple Festival and it's a way for local high schools to participate.
"We have a lot of local people and a lot of regional people," Linehan said. "There's a lot of high school bands in the parade and so we see lots of families and friends of those bands coming to enjoy apple festival."
It's the culmination of a weekend full of tradition and history. Russell Weber said he's been coming for 37 years.
"It's a lot of fun coming down here and seeing all of the exhibits and the parade," Weber said. "The parade is awesome. It gets bigger and bigger every year so that's fun."
It's a way for the community to celebrate a year of hard work.
"It's a chance to celebrate the apple harvest for the orchards, which are a huge part of the community and the history of the community, so it really brings together a lot of the elements of what's so spectacular about Bayfield," Linehan said.
The beauty of the Bayfield Apple Festival keeps them coming back.
