As back-to-school season is right around the corner, The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation teamed up with CHUM to distribute backpacks filled with school supplies throughout the Duluth community.

The backpacks are available for all Duluth school children, grades K-12. In addition, there will be information booths and resources, and school lunch registration for ISD 709 students.

Last week, a representative from CHUM said they went from being short 800 backpacks to having almost too many. So there's plenty to go around!

There are three distribution locations:

  • Central Hillside Community Center, 12 East 4th Street
  • Morgan Park Community Center, 1242 88th Avenue West
  • Portman Community Center, 4601 McCulloch Street

Guardians are asked to be prepared with one form of identification for each student receiving a backpack. That can be in the form of an old school ID, social security card, medical card, birth certificate, passport, etc. The backpacks will be distributed from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
