Family members reported 57-year-old Janeen Bauer Peters missing last week, and investigators believed she had last been seen at a restaurant in Duluth.  Peters' van was found parked on Lake County Highway 2, just south of State Highway 1, this week.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office  said it appeared the van had been parked there for some time because there were no fresh tracks in the snow.  Responding deputies did a general search and then requested additional crews with dogs.

On Wednesday morning, Peters' body was found about 500 yards from the vehicle in a wooded area.

The body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
