Ashland Fire Destroys Family Home

Fire crews from Ashland, Mellen, Washburn and Mason suffered through freezing temperatures while battling a fire on New Year's Eve.

According to Ashland Fire Captain, Chris Bulovski, the call came in around 10:45 pm, Sunday.

They arrived to a fully engulfed structure fire at 504 10th Ave. West.

Bulovsky said it appears the fire started in the basement and had moved up to the attic of single family home.

No injuries were reported, but the large home and all it's contents are considered a total loss estimated at more than $250,000.

Bulovsky said the investigation active, but it appears the fire started due to a wood fire in the basement.
