The Ashland County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for tips to help find a woman last reported to have been at a weekend music festival.

A woman called authorities on Tuesday to report that her sister, 54-year-old Jody Lynn Newberry of Bergland, Mich., had left for the Mellen Jam music festival last Thursday and had not returned home or contacted family.  The sheriff's office says preliminary information indicates that Newberry became separated from a male companion at around noon on Saturday.

The festival is held on private property on Gilgen Road near Mellen.  Ashland County Sheriff's Deputies and the Sawyer County Search and Rescue K9 unit conducted a search of the property and the adjacent forested area on Tuesday but did not find Newberry.

The sheriff's office says expanded searches are planned.

Newberry is 5'3" tall and weighs 115 pounds.  She has brown hair and brown eyes, usually wears wire-rimmed glasses, and is missing several teeth.

The sheriff's office would like to hear from anyone who had contact with Newberry at the music festival or since then to call them immediately at 715-682-7023, option 1.
