The Cloquet Police Department says officers were called to the arena Wednesday for a report of damage to an ATM machine inside the building. Officers investigated and determined a male broke into the machine and took money from it. The department says the suspect stayed inside the building until after staff left for the night. Also, a door was propped open to allow him access to the building later in the night.

During the investigation, officers located a pile of burned items in the back of the building that appear to be articles used by the suspect to break into the ATM, according to authorities. The identity of the suspect was quickly learned and attempted to locate him.

At 3:30 a.m. Thusday, the CPD learned that the suspect had been located in Duluth by the Duluth Police Department.

The male is awaiting formal charges for burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property.
