When you walk through the Arrowhead Ice Fishing and Winter Show, you expect to find augurs, poles and jigs. You don't expect to see 3D polar bears.

But Minneapolis-based artist Shawn McCann spent hours creating a 3D sidewalk art experience for people to snap a photo.

"This piece I started on Wednesday morning. So I put about 26-27 hours into the street painting here, and now it's open for people to pose on and have fun with," McCann said.

There is a lot of math involved with creating 3D art, he said. Photos have to be taken at the perfect angle to get the 3D effect. He creates an individual painting for each event he's invited to.

"Since it is the ice fishing show and the winter show, we thought it would be perfect to have some polar bears here," McCann said. "We didn't want them to be too scary looking so people wouldn't want to interact with them. So we've got this polar bear in the back that's looking through the aquarium, and this one is kind of wondering what's going on with us on the ice ledge here."

McCann's art will be on display all day Saturday in the back corner of Paulucci Hall.
