They kicked things off Friday with a charity shoot where all proceeds went to the Challenge Center. The state championship begins at 8:30 am Saturday and concludes on Sunday at the Superior fairgrounds.

Black River Bandits president Marvin "Fossilman" Stadin said his favorite part about the event is the comradery, describing the state championship as a family reunion.

"We grew up with the old Westerns on television and a lot of us just live that life, you know, boots and hats all of the time. It was something I always wanted to do and didn't know it was out there," Stadin said, "Once I discovered it, like everyone does, once they try it they get hooked, and it's like going to back to your childhood."
