2 Killed in Northwestern Ontario Plane Crash

A pilot and passenger were killed when a plane crashed north of Kenora on Wednesday.

Ontario Provincial Police say the crash near Domain Lake, and a forest fire, was reported at about 9:50 a.m.  An Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry map showed the fire at 25 hectares (75 acres) as of Thursday afternoon, and not under control.

The names of the people who died have not yet been released.  The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will investigate the cause of the crash.

Domain Lake is within Woodland Caribou Provincial Park and is about 135 kilometers (about 85 miles) north of Kenora by air, or about 55 kilometers (about 35 miles) west of Red Lake.
