It's that time of year again. The St. Louis County Fair has been called "the best 5 days of Summer", going through Sunday, August 12th. The Fair is just off of US Highway 169 South in Chisholm.

Fair Executive Director, Bettie Valley, says there's something for every age. "There's lots of bands, there's a new ride on the Midway, and the National Guard brought some obstacle courses and a rock climbing wall," Valley said.

Friday is "Kid's Day," with free admission for children ages 12 and under from 11 am to 5 pm. Regular admission is $3 for children ages 6 to 12, $6 for ages 13 to 18, $8 for ages 19 and over, and $7 for Seniors 62 and over.

Among other events, the ATV Big Air Tour Show will be both Friday and Saturday with three performances each day. Valley says once you pay the entrance fee, outside of wristbands for rides, all other activities are free, including the Big Air Show.

A new food vendor is catching the eye of many. "We have a new stand that looks just like an igloo," Valley explains. This igloo houses a shaved ice stand. Sticking with the snowy theme, owner Cindy Pettinelli appropriately named the stand Flakes. Beyond the unique stand, Pettinelli says their shaved ice stands out because of the wide spectrum of flavors they offer.

"With our 28 flavors, we can make hundreds of concoctions," said Pettinelli. They also include gummies or sprinkles in every option on the menu. "The highlights for young kids are the Rainbow and the Shark Attack. The adults like the Pina Colada and the Dirt Cake," Pettinelli explained.

Festivities will be going in Chisholm through Sunday, August 12th.
