Families got to explore all things Seuss at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Thursday evening.

Seussville Family Fun Night is a collaboration with UWS's Future Teachers Association, Educational Leadership Students, and the Veterans and Nontraditional Student Center.

The free 7th annual event is a joint celebration of National Reading Month and Dr. Seuss's birthday.

UWS Future Teachers Association president Kaitlyn Rigstad said, “Dr. Seuss is a really fun way for kids to just get involved with reading. Reading is such an important skill, it’s so important for anything you need to do later in life, plus it’s an escape.”

The literary icon's imaginative characters jumped off the page and into the Jim Dan Hill Library to meet kinds and lead them through a variety of Seuss themed activities.

“We have our photo booth with Cat in the Hat, we’ve got Sneetch star coloring, we have our obstacle course which is actually new this year, we have a little fishing game for the One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish book, and we’ve got just a bunch of stuff,” Rigstad said.

A free Dr. Seuss book was given to each child as supplies allowed.
