There was something for everyone as first timers were welcomed, and experienced paddlers got to try out different boats they've never been in.

"A lot of people want to kayak but don't know anything about what to get, or what's good, what's not good, what works for them, so this is a chance for them to come down, try out a variety of different styles, and get some feedback, find out 'I like this, I don't like this, this one is perfect,' " said Northland Paddlers Alliance President Shawna Anderson.

The event kicked off paddlers and rowers week. Local businesses will be offering a variety of paddling related activities throughout the week.
