Thunder Bay Man Accused of Driving Double Speed Limit

Police say a Thunder Bay man was charged with stunt driving after allegedly driving more than twice the speed limit.

According to a police news release, an officer saw the driver travelling at 114 kph (70 mph) in an area where the speed limit is 50 kph (31 mph).  The traffic stop happened on Golf Links Road near Cascade Crescent on Feb. 6.

Police say the officer conducted a traffic stop without incident.

Besides facing the stunt driving charge, the driver's vehicle was impounded for seven days.
