Squirrel Blamed for Cloquet Power Outage, Service Restored

Minnesota Power says a squirrel is to blame for an outage that affected thousands of homes and businesses in Cloquet for more than an hour Friday.

The outage began about 10:45, and up to 6,500 customers were affected at one point. Minnesota power says the squirrel got into a substation that serves the area.

The temperature at the Cloquet Carlton County Airport was 16 degrees when the outage began.
