Homeowners and businesses in Duluth, Superior and Cloquet all took home prizes. 'A Sweet Event' put on the contest for its fourth year along with the help of several other sponsors.

In total, nearly eighty homes participated in this year's challenge.

And in Superior, the Defoe's won for the second year in a row, clinching the overall winner spot. They will move to the master's category next year.

"We had around 20,000 lights his year, a walk through display, letters to Santa," said overall winner, Brett Defoe. "If children put their address on there Santa would write them back. And had hot chocolate and cookies also!"

Friday night was the last night kids could write to Santa from the Defoe's house.

The City of Superior also won for favorite Christmas City.
