Man Arrested after Brief Standoff in Bessemer

A man was arrested after a brief standoff in Bessemer on Wednesday.

Gogebic County Sheriff Pete Matonich says the 33-year-old man barricaded himself in his residence around Noon. Officers secured the scene and made entry into the residents a short time later, and the man was taken into custody without incident.

The man is being held in the Gogebic County Jail while he awaits arraignment on a possible domestic violence charge.

Michigan State Police Troopers and Beacon Ambulance assisted the sheriff's office at the scene.
