With the closures of museums and city buildings, organizations are turning to new ways to help the community pass the time and learn while staying home and self-isolating during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The St. Louis County Depot in Duluth is one organization who is providing a new opportunity for residents while they are closed.

According to a press release, the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, working with other organizations in the Depot, is offering daily video tours available online and on several Social Media Platforms. The short vignettes are produced and distributed through the North Shore Scenic Railroad’s YouTube channel and available on Facebook pages for the Railroad and the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.

The segments will be two to four minutes in length and will feature behind-the-scenes tours of spaces and artifacts you couldn’t see or get into even if the Museum was open.

There will be a different tour, every day. If viewers are interested in a specific artifact, have a question or want to explore a topic of interest you can make a suggestion and that idea might be a future episode.

The mission of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum is to; preserve, interpret and present to the public the history of railroading, especially as it relates to our area.
