This is to help promote keeping Valentine's Day purchases or reservations local to help support all of the different varieties of Superior's businesses.

"In an environment where we're already competing with a large online market, it's tough for local retailers when people can't move around very well," Mayor Paine said. "Our retailers and hospitality industry is open all year round."

Paine brought up how local retailers struggled during the holiday season after the winter snow storm that hit the Northland over Thanksgiving. His proclamation aims to help support resident's holiday needs while in turn supporting business owners.
