Habitat for Humanity Holds House Blessing

Created: September 08, 2019 10:33 PM

The Western Lake Superior Habitat for Humanity recently built their newest home in Lincoln Park. To celebrate its completion, all the local organizations and volunteers who helped with the build came together to welcome the Witherspoon family into their new home and to preform a home blessing.

The WLSHFH is working to continue their efforts to increase its affordable housing production in the region through new builds and repairs, just like for the Witherspoons.

Lake Superior College's construction program partnered with the Habitat for Humanity, and the programs teacher also designed the house. Other organizations that supported the home build included Wells Fargo, Minnesota Power, Essentia Health, as well as three Duluth Rotary Clubs.

"You get a variety of experiences," said WLSHFH Board President Candace Fitzgerald. "A variety of people from all over that come together to make something incredible happen."

The Habitat for Humanity is always looking for more volunteers to help build more affordable housing in the area. More information and volunteer opportunities can be found at their website,
