The State Patrol says two women have died in a crash in northeastern Minnesota. The patrol says the two died Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash that shut down a portion of Highway 23 in Carlton County.  The patrol says it happened shortly after 6:15 on Highway 23 and County Road 8.

A Chevy Blazer was heading northbound on Highway 23 when it went off of the roadway to the left side of the shoulder. The driver overcorrected and went into the ditch. The Chevy Blazer  rolled, striking a tree mid-roll and crushing the roof of the passenger side.

It came to a rest wrapped around the tree with the top of the car against the tree and the passenger side down.

Authorities say the driver, 35-year-old Angela Severson, of Pierre, South Dakota and the passenger 36-year-old Jennifer Bokusky, of Apple Valley died in the crash.

The accident is under investigation.
