Prior to the induction, the school unveiled the large mural painted by artist Tim Cortes that points out significant moments from the 1970's.

"I got a chance to give back to the high school that my kids went to, that me and my wife went to, and I thought, 'what a great idea,' " said Cortes.

This piece is just one in a series of five that will be depicting separate decades from the school's history.

Cortes says that this particular piece took about three months to complete.
