Deadly Summer on Minnesota Roads

A total of 132 traffic fatalities occurred in Minnesota during what the Department of Public Safety calls the 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roads.

The 100 days occur between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.

DPS says the 132 traffic deaths that occurred during this time, which make up 57% of all traffic fatalities so far in 2019.

According to DPS, ten of the incidents were distraction-related, twenty-seven were speed-related, thirty-two were alcohol-related, twenty-two were due to not wearing seatbelts and thirty-three involved motorcycles.

DPS also said eight of the incidents involved pedestrians and five involved cyclists.
