Crews called to grass fires in Cloquet

Firefighters in Cloquet responded to a report of a grass fire near the skateboard park at 420 14th Street at 1:19 p.m. on Monday. Crews arrived on scene to find two separate grass fires in the field, one near the playground and the other in the baseball field.

Firefighters quickly extinguished both grass fires with the assistance from Cloquet DNR.

There were no injuries, and a damage report was not issued. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The region is under abnormally dry conditions for this area. Firefighters want to remind residents and visitors to be vigilant. One unintentional spark under these conditions could be all it takes to ignite a grass/wildfire. Keep up to date on burning restriction on the MnDNR site
