Two shootings in Cloquet, and one man has a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police say they responded to 227 Scotty Drive in Cloquet shortly after midnight early Monday morning. It was reported that several shots were fired at the residence there. Officers confirmed that shots had been fired, finding no one with injuries.

About 30 minutes later, police received a report of a second shooting at 973 Ozhigaw Road in Cloquet. A victim on scene had a gunshot wound to the leg. The 27-year-old man was taken to the hospital.

The investigation is still ongoing, but Cloquet Police say the two incidents are related. A suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Nicholas Joseph Ammesmaki. He is wanted for First Degree Assault-Great Bodily Harm and firearm possession. An arrest warrant has been issued, but Ammesmaki's whereabouts are unknown.

The Cloquet Police Department says he was last seen leaving the scene in a 2003 silver Pontiac Bonneville with MN license DWL944. They ask anyone anyone with information as to his whereabouts to call 911. Anonymous tips can be sent by texting TIP CLOQUETPD followed by your message, to 888777. Police advise you do not approach Ammesmaki, as he is considered armed and dangerous.

The Cloquet Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac Police Department, Carlton County Sheriff's Office, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
