Talon Metals excited about new developments related to their nickel project in Tamarack

Update from Talon Metals about mine plans

Developments related to Talon Metals include a land agreement in North Dakota and changes to their proposal for the mine in Tamarack.

Some big developments for Talon Metals and their Tamarack Nickel Copper Project.

Last week, leaders in North Dakota celebrated the signing of an agreement between Talon and Westmoreland Mining, giving Talon the rights to buy the former Beulah Mine.

That’s where the minerals will be processed, after they are mined out of the ground near Tamarack.

Also, the company is excited about the intercepts that have come out of the ground recently, the highest grade in the history of the project.

Talon took over in 2019.

During the environmental review process, they’ve received about 1600 comments from regulatory agencies and tribal governments.

And they’ve used those to shape their design into a mine in a box concept.

Jessica Johnson, Vice President of External Affairs, explained it to us. “We now have an underground tunnel that will bring the ore directly into an enclosed building. About the size of a Super Target. And inside that building are rail cars that will come and load with ore. Those cars will have lids secured on them, and then they’ll head to North Dakota to the processing facility,” she said.

This is to address concerns like water management and dust. “We know the changes we’ve made will not be enough for everyone, but hopefully people can see we are taking actions to make a mine for 2025,” she added.

Leaders from there recently had meetings at the Pentagon, as they do receive funding from the Department of Defense.

They hope to start the EIS process at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
