Mesabi Metallics invites public back to see the progress in Nashwauk
The public is invited to see the progress at Mesabi Metallics on Thursday next week.
Right, about 400 union tradesmen and women are working at the Mesabi Metallics project in Nashwauk.
And there is a staff of about 60, made up of folks from India and the Northland.
The project is about 75% complete, according to CEO Joe Broking. It includes a DR-grade pellet plant, and a mine that will pick up where Butler Taconite left off in 1985.
And as part of their goal of being more transparent, they are inviting people back to see the progress.
“We have completely rebuilt our relationships with the communities where we operate, and also the state of Minnesota,” Broking said.
There are bus tours and an open house on Thursday, with tacos and other refreshments afterwards.
