Crushers are key parts of the pellet making operations at the mines. They take the taconite and crush it into smaller and smaller pieces, so it can be turned into iron ore pellets.

Some of the crushers date back to the 70s. But Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is hoping a new, modern model will help bring the industry into the future.

Eric Erkkila, account manager, explained, "The plants are aging like everything else does. And there's a need for dust reduction and power consumption reduction. And these crushers are suited to do that. We are currently looking at the plants up here. Clients are supposed to come look at the crusher coming together."

They also have an open house coming up at their new facility on June 22.

Sandvik is a company headquartered in Sweden.
