Sickness, truck issues cause garbage pickup delays in Ironwood

The company that handles trash and recycling pickup in Ironwood is apologizing for a delay in pickup.

In a statement relayed by the City of Ironwood on Wednesday, Republic Services says the delay has been caused by drivers calling in sick and truck issues created by winter weather.

"However, we take full responsibility for the delay," the statement said.

The company said it worked with the city to develop a plan for pickup in the northern and central parts of the city on Thursday, Jan. 6 and in the southern half of the city on Friday, Jan. 7. They are asking residents to have both containers placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on pickup day.
