What’s Brewing: Ice bocce in Moose Lake
Moose Lake Brewing pours a lot more than beer. They also pour into the local community.
On Jan. 25, they’ll do that through an ice bocce tournament benefiting the Moose Lake Fire Department.
Up to 32 teams of four will compete on lanes plowed on the 16+ inches of ice on Moosehead Lake. It’s $100 per team to participate, with the money split between winners of the tournament, costume contest, and the MLFD.
“It’s a blast,” Owner Shawn Wigg said. “It’s a sense of community. It’s a lot of fun. People dress up for costume contest prizes. Playing for money, playing for charity. It’s a great time.”
People can call the taproom at (218) 485-4585 to register a team.
Wigg said people can also look forward to the Whiskey Chip being on tap, a 12% stout aged in bourbon barrels.

After the ice bocce tournament comes the 8th annual Ice Fishing for Vets on Feb. 15.
