The 2025 Vegetable of the Year is…
The Duluth Community Carden program is celebrating the Radish as the 2025 vegetable of the year.
Every fall, the Duluth Community Garden Program hosts a potluck to mark the end of the growing season. They celebrate and make dishes surrounding the Vegetable of the Year, which in 2024 was corn. They also take nominations for the next Vegetable of the Year.
They voted for 2025 as the year of radish. The suggestions came from the leader of the Duluth Farm to Table program. Radishes grow within 30 days, which will allow students to see what they grew during the school year.
Radishes grow underground like carrots and are good sources of calcium, potassium, and antioxidants,
Ideas for how to eat radishes:
- Sliced with a little bit of salt
- In a salad
- On a peanut butter sandwich
